Podcast series focusing on the miracles of Jesus Christ. PART ONE.
You’re listening to Wonders of the Bible. This is Frank DeFreitas. If someone asked you how many miracles Jesus performed, would you be able to give them an answer? I know that if someone asked me, I would probably answer by saying “a lot”. The actual number of miracles listed in the Bible is 37. It is said that there are many more miracles of Jesus that were never recorded.
Of course, an even more difficult question would be to name the miracles. I don’t know how many people would be able to do that! Would you be able to name all 37 miracles? I think it’s fair to say that it would be asking a lot!
With that in mind, I thought I would put together a series of podcasts that would list each and every miracle performed by Jesus. And I’ll turn to the Holy Bible to describe each one.
This podcast will cover miracles 1 thru 5. Future podcasts will cover more.
Usually, the miracles of Jesus are listed in the order that they were performed. However, I’m not going to be listing them that way. I will list them so that you can easily follow along with the programs.
For instance, I will begin with the gospel of Matthew, and stay in the Gospel of Matthew, starting in chapter eight. I hope that you will enjoy learning about each one.
So let’s begin...
#1 . Cleansing a Leper
Matthew 8:1-3 -- When he was come down from
the mountain, great multitudes followed him. And, behold, there came a
leper and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make
me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I
will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
This miracle is also mentioned in Mark 1:40; and Luke 5:12
#2. Healing a Centurion’s Servant
Matthew 8:5-8 -- And when Jesus
was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching
him, and saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy,
grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal
him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou
shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant
shall be healed.
This miracle is also mentioned in Luke 7:1
#3. Healing Peter’s Mother-in-Law
Matthew 8:14-15 -- And when
Jesus was come into Peter’s house, he saw his wife’s mother laid, and
sick of a fever. And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and
she arose, and ministered unto them.
This miracle is also mentioned in Mark 1:30; and in Luke 4:38
#4. Healing the Sick at Evening
Matthew 8:16-17 -- When the even
was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils:
and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were
sick: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet,
saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
This miracle is also mentioned in Mark 1:32; and Luke 4:40
#5. Stilling the Storm
Matthew 8:23-27 -- And when he was entered
into a ship, his disciples followed him. And, behold, there arose a
great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the
waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him,
saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye
fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and
the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marvelled, saying,
What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!
This miracle is also mentioned in Mark 4:35; and Luke 8:22
